• Gareth provides local support to the formation of Decision Support Units (DSUs) across the West Midlands, as part of the development of the Midlands Decision Support Network.  He has built relationships within each Integrated Care System and is helping them to establish their local DSU arrangements by providing help, advice and technical guidance.

    Gareth brings expertise in public health intelligence and is passionate about addressing health inequalities, the wider determinants of health - and turning analytical insight into practical action.

  • An economist by background with a Master’s in Public Health, Gareth has 20 years of experience working in analytical roles across local government, the Civil Service and the health sector. He is currently on secondment from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities where he jointly heads up their Local Knowledge and Intelligence Service in the Midlands.

    Gareth’s recent projects include:

    • Leading on the development and implementation of an ‘Insight to Action’ approach for analytical projects.  

    • Delivering epidemiological training as part of the ‘Midlands Population Health Management Academy’.

    • Advising on the intelligence components of the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System’s Population Health Management Strategy.
