We will be acting as expert partners to help advance the quality and consistency of demand modelling for critical national healthcare infrastructure projects.
This will include developing a common framework for demand modelling and, where helpful, standardised ‘best practice’ methodologies for the forecasting of future demand. The objective is to grow capability across the NHS and develop a national academy which will provide tools, training and education to those developing new hospital plans.
This is an exciting and important commission for the Strategy Unit and Health Economics Unit. It is also recognition that the NHS can develop its own high-grade analytical and advisory capacity.
We are proud that our expertise has been called upon. And through this work we will further advance local and national NHS capabilities, and therefore greater transparency and self-sufficiency, in undertaking this kind of critical work.
Edward Argar MP, Minister of State for Health said: “We are really pleased to have established a partnership with these expert NHS teams. Their track record is at the cutting edge of analytical capability and their work will ensure that the NHP and the participant schemes within it are informed by the best possible assessments of future demand.”
