  • Dechante specialises in qualitative research and evaluation of health and care services, frameworks, standards and programmes. She is particularly interested in work related to health inequalities, women’s health and mental health. 

    She applies diverse qualitative approaches, generating shared learning that supports evidence-based decision-making for clients. Her expertise spans co-production, health communications and multidisciplinary research. Dechante centres lived experience in her evaluation work, listening to patient voices to support more equitable outcomes.

  • Before joining The Strategy Unit, Dechante worked across roles in health, academic and community settings. She worked in co-production at the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative. She also wrote accessible health content for a preventative health technology platform. Dechante holds a BSc in Neuroscience and an MRes in Interdisciplinary Study, grounding her interest in the social, biological and policy dimensions of health. 

    Recent projects at the Strategy Unit include: 

    • Evaluating the national CORE20PLUS5 framework, including case studies of how two ICSs implemented the approach. 
    • Developing minimum standards for patients and carers on NHS elective care waiting lists through an evidence review, interviews and co‑design focus groups. 
    • Evaluating a proof of concept for extending the children and young people’s LDA keyworker model to an all‑age service.
