• Matt is a data scientist who builds and guides the development of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) to improve the efficiency and quality of statistical outputs. He develops open-source tools and designs and delivers technical training, with a focus on the R programming language and Git software for version control. He helps to build data communities and speaks and writes about his experiences.

  • Matt worked for nearly a decade as a data specialist in five central-government departments, including the Cabinet Office and Government Digital Service. As a data scientist, he has created code-based tools and Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) to help analysts get things done quicker and more reliably. Before working in the public sector, he completed PhD and MSc programmes in ecology.
