Generate new ideas to solve a problem – by identifying the underlying assumptions, unwritten rules and thinking that maintain the status quo. Then ‘break the rules’, to support development of potential solutions.

The Strategy Unit wants to support Neighbourhood Working. We want to help make a success of different services – health, social care, voluntary sector (etc) – coordinating their efforts to improve health outcomes for local populations. To do this, we have initiated a learning network. 

We held held our first Neighbourhood Network event on Tuesday 17th July 2018 (please find below the summary write-up of the event).

With the end of the New Care Models programme there is an opportunity to reflect on what has been learnt at local level. The Strategy Unit has worked closely with Dudley throughout its programme. So we were invited to present our reflections at Dudley’s recent conference. Our headline? Culture over contracts.  

This is a national overview report of our Making the case for integrating physical and mental health services reporting which took place in July 2017. 

The original reports looked at the physical health of people who use mental health services; life expectancy, acute hospital use and opportunities to improve service quality and efficiency.
