Lucy has extensive experience of discrete event simulation modeling and analysis. Her background in Statistics and Operational Research allows her to draw on numerous techniques required for quantitative problem solving. As an Analytics Manager Lucy is responsible for working with clients to:
-
define their problems
-
construct valid models of their systems of interest
-
identify experimental scenarios to investigate
This culminates in providing the client with clear evidence to aide in their decision making.

Lucy has worked across industry and academia at using simulation for problem solving. Prior to joining The Strategy Unit, Lucy worked as a research specialist in BT Applied Research and before this she worked as a Lecturer in Simulation and Stochastic Modelling at Lancaster University Management School. She has a strong record of publishing in respected simulation and data science journals. This experience has given her a rigorous approach to problem structuring and solving.
Lucy has a PhD in Statistics and Operational Research, her thesis won The Doctoral Prize from The OR Society in 2019 and she continues to be an active member of The Operational Research Society having set up the Early Career Researchers Network in 2020. In 2025 Lucy was awarded the KD Tocher Medal by the OR Society in recognition of the most outstanding contribution to the philosophy, theory or practice of simulation published in the Journal of Simulation within the relevant two year period.
